Discover Jinja

Jinja, Uganda

Known as the adventure capital of East Africa, Jinja is a city in the eastern part of Uganda, an industrial hub for the country and home to the seat of the Kyabazinga, the traditional ruler of Busoga. A frontier city, Jinja is the gateway connecting the eastern region of Uganda and the Kingdom of Buganda and the effect of this strategic position is reflected in the diversity, resilience and hospitality of the people of Jinja. Jinja is home to the Source of the River Nile, the world's longest river. The river bubbles out of Lake Victoria in Jinja, creating a concentration of rapids and falls, making water adventures one of Jinja's main attractions. A short drive from Kampala and Entebbe, Jinja is a perfect day trip or weekend getaway that offers activities such as hiking, white-water rafting, bungee jumping, kayaking, sailing, swimming, horseback riding or simply resting and enjoying the natural environment with the famously friendly people and many bird species, food, art and crafts, and amazing sunrise and sunsets to be seen.
